I am not suggesting for a minute that you will want to feel sorry for your accountant in January. But just in case you do, let me relate to you some of our seasonal grumbles, and you never know, you might discover that you have more in common with your accountant than you think!
Just look at the weather. Coming to work in the dark, going home in the dark, facing the daily challenge of crossing the ice in the car park, and let’s not even get started on the temperature, both outside and in the office!
Has your January diet started and failed? Are you too sitting at your desk feeling fat and miserable, listening to your colleagues moan about their extra Christmas pounds? Or worse, have you escaped from a house of tired and ill children, only to sit in an office full of colds and coughs wondering how long it will be before you need to hit the cold and flu remedy?
And of course, let’s not forget the “last minuters” who are more stressful at this time of year than any other. All those who have left it to the last minute and assume that they are the only ones to have done so! Then last and by no means least, we have H M Revenue & Customs, who whilst changing and complicating the system even further also seem to have managed to cease to exist, instead becoming an automated telephone line and a computer hidden in an undisclosed location.
Have you ever wondered why 31 January and not one of the other months?
If you would like to share your January moans please do not contact the team on 01733 371180 as we have enough of our own!
