Happy World Book Day!
The GreenStones team love to promote the importance of reading, as well as help spread awareness of this great charity.
If you would like to find out the reasons why we love reading and our book recommendations from last year, please check out our World Book Day 2022 blog.
At GreenStones we provide our new team members with a few of our favourite books to help develop their knowledge and skills. The books have been chosen specifically because they complement the ethos and working culture at GreenStones. Here is a brief overview of some of those books:
| Book | Reason To Read |
| Fish! A Remarkable Way to Boost Morale and Improve Results by Stephen C. Lundin | This inspiring book teaches the reader about the importance of having a positive and present attitude. It focuses on four principles, which can be applied to your daily life. |
| Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer John | Based on four characters, this book reminds us that change is necessary and we should welcome new suggestions and systems. |
| The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber | You need to read this book if you are planning on starting a business! In this book, the author helps explain buzzwords and complex theories, which you can implement in your new business. |
Please check out our recommended reading page for even more books to help with development.
We would love to hear what activities you have set up to help your team members development. If you don’t, why not implement a reading activity now?
Team Members 2023 Book Recommendations
Our team members recent book recommendations are:
- Munich by Robert Harris – Mark likes this historical fiction book which relates to when Britain and France sold out the Czechs on appeasement. “The novel really brings the early days in Germany to life.”
- Da Gospel According to Ali G – The location in which this book is set resonates with Nathan because it’s where he grew up. “The perfect self-help book for a 17 year-old me growing up… it taught me everything I need to know about life”.
- A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara – This book is about extreme adversity, resilience and how experiences as a child shape you and those around you forever. Here’s what Lucy had to say… “I never thought I would have a favourite book, but this one I have read it twice. It’s a very long book, but as you read it you get drawn deeper and deeper into another world and I didn’t want it to end. It is unbelievably well written from start to finish.”
- All Dogs Great and Small by Graeme Hall – Tracy’s latest recommendation is one all dog owners need on their bookshelf. The GreenStones team actually had the pleasure of meeting Graeme Hall a few years ago and the techniques he uses on dogs can be applied to humans.
- Taste: My Life Through Food by Stanley Tucci – This is a mixture of a wonderful memoir and a recipe book. Leanne highly recommends you give this heart-warming book a read.
- Approach With(out) Caution by James Haskell – Sally recently read this book which doubled up as a development activity. “I have read a couple of books by James Haskell and like his no-nonsense, humorous style. This book was a bit different to the others I have read and served as a great reminder on lots of things I have previously been taught. Off the back of it I have changed some of my bad habits”.
